Fire resistant chemicals in insulation
I recently read that Greenfiber insulation products are free of any chemicals on the "red list" for the Living Building Challenge. What chemicals are added to Greenfiber insulation to keep it from combusting when exposed to open flame?

We use a couple of different flame retardants depending on the particular GreenFiber product: Boric Acid, Sodium Tetraborate and Ammonium Sulfate. Because of the fire retardant application, GreenFiber Cellulose Insulation has been proven more effective in actual fire situations in maintaining the structural members of a home.
