GreenWizard Makes Product Transparency for LEED Applications a Cinch

As the green building industry continues to flourish, USGBC is evolving its LEED certification process to become more rigorous. With the change from LEED 2009 to LEED v4, sustainability focused professionals are simultaneously seeking out tools that make their lives less stressful and their decisions more well informed.

For five years now, GreenWizard developers have been working to build a database of more than 145,000 green building products from approximately 1,300 manufacturers. Within the repository, each entry includes a variety of documentation related to its environmental efficacy and impact – ranging from HPDs to LCAs to any third-party certifications.

In the past, such work could have easily taken hours of spreadsheet madness... and typically became the mundane task of an intern or junior partner. With the GreenWizard, professionals can track their entire project "to a T", including where they stand in regard to LEED credit fulfillment. What’s more, everyone on the team can be a part of the process, preventing siloed decision making.

Already GreenWizard touts a variety of notary clientele, including Portland-based ZGF Architects, the Swiss Builder Skanska, and the award-winning SmithGroup JJR. Thus far, it’s been used in the management of approximately $23.8 billion in green building.

There are individual subscriptions, for an affordable $119.99 per year or corporate subscriptions for larger, geographically diverse operations. Currently, subscription pricing varies between $5,000 and $10,000 for the average firm. There are three different product models: design, construction, and design and construction together.

Pricing for a single seat – which can be used to manage multiple projects – is approximately $1,000. But with significant time savings, mitigating the threat of human error in calculations, and improving information sharing, it seems an investment that would pay off many times over.
