LEED AP confusion

LEED AP

Hey there,

I passed my LEED Green Associate exam yesterday and was trying to figure out what to study for my next goal which is LEED AP BD+C , I already have LEED Project Experience and i'm eligible for this.

Also, I cannot see my credentials updated in "My credential" Section yet and thus cannot apply for LEED AP Exams yet.

It's very difficult to figure out for me that what i'm supposed to study for LEED AP BD+C , as they have introduced LEED v4 and i was very confused whether i should be investing in their 2009 reference guide or v4 reference guide.

I'm looking forward for a reply.

Hi Prateek, happy holidays and congratulations on passing the LEED Green Associate! USGBC is currently closed for the holidays so there may be a lag in terms of when your LEED Green Associate credential appears in your account on gbci.org. In terms of preparation for the LEED AP exam, if you take the exam before next spring (2014) you will be testing under LEED 2009 (v3), so you would use the LEED 2009 BD+C reference guide as your study material, and use LEED exam preparation practice tests, such as these from GreenStep, to prepare for your exam.

If you choose to wait until after spring 2014, you would need to get the new LEED v4 BD+C reference guide from USGBC and make sure you are using LEED v4 materials (practice tests, etc.), to prepare. If you are working on a LEED project that is registered with 2009, you might want to take the LEED AP exam now, rather than wait for v4, as you will be more familiar with the material covered in the current LEED 2009-based exam.
