In one of the practice exams the question asked, "A LEED certified building has 100 full time employees, 200 part time employees, and 100 peak time customers. How many bike storage spaces does it need to earn the Location & Transportation, Bicycle Facilities credit?" The answer as described calculated the FTEs as 200 by counting all 100 full time employees plus part time employees as half (.5 x 200). However, in the guide book the calculation for FTEs is full time employees + the sum of part time employees/8 hours. How did you arrive at .5 x 200 as the way to calculate part time employees?

Hi Jenna, thanks for your question. A full time employee (FTE) is always assumed to work 8 hours. A part time employee is always equal to 1/2 a full time employee. So, all FTEs would include the sum of 100% of the full time employees and the number of part time employees times .5.
