How Many LEED Professionals Are There?

Today, USGBC announced that as of March 1, 2013, there are 95,154 LEED credentialed professionals in the world. (Note: This does not include legacy APs without specialty).

The highest density of these professionals is in the US and Canada, which has 88,767. Not surprisingly, California has the most LEED professionals, with 11,815, or about 12% of the global total. New York came in second, with 5,891, and Texas in third, with 5,066. The most popular careers among these credential holders are architecture, construction management, mechanical engineering, interior design and project management, in order.

Outside of North America, China (1,146) Korea (799), the United Arab Emirates (666) have the greatest number of professionals with LEED credentials.

Which LEED Credentials Are the Most Popular?

The LEED AP BD+C is the most popular credential in the world. The US and Canada have 53,611 of these professionals, while other countries have 3,421. However, the Green Associate is reportedly the fastest growing credential, with 27,549 in North America and 3,314 globally. The least popular credentials in both the US and the world were AP ND and AP Homes.
