Hi Alex, I have a question regarding a comment made during one of the sessions of the LEED Professional Project Experience program regarding what a LEED consultant should charge.

I believe you mentioned that standard LEED consulting rates hover in the range of $20 - $60k, depending on size of project. I have also heard that hour rates are in the $100-200 range.

I'm not sure of the number of hours that typically go into various LEED projects and specifically how they are broken down in terms of various stages.

Could you kindly break down the estimated rates into into a (ballpark) hourly rate, or give me a rough sense of the number of hours it might take per project?

Answer:

Estimated hours for LEED consulting are 200 - 400 hours. The hourly rate is $100 to $175.

Answer:

the number of hours and rates really depend on the project size and scope. The number of hours to administer the LEED documentation has significantly gone down thanks to the streamlined LEEDonline tool. There is still the normal hours, and rates, to manage and review documentation as any architecure firm would do.
