Integrated Project Design
On one of the practice tests I came across the following question:
Q: Which design approaches are incorporated in Integrated Project Design versus traditional building methods?
a) Project phasing
b) Daylighting analysis
c) LEED Certification process
d) Team design
I selected c & d; correct answers given were a & d. I agree with Option D, but being an A&E professional I have worked on projects planned out in phases (and were not pursuing LEED certification).
Why would the correct answer be Option A? Please help me understand. Thanks!

This is an example of needing to choose the "best" answer, not necessarily one that is correct 100% of the time. The gist is that IPD (which stands for Integrated Project Delivery not Integrated Project Design) requires a strategy that results in the most efficient and responsive process to design, build, etc. The idea is that the USGBC pushes for project phasing and team design, where as conventional building methods have no requirements for design approaches, but may follow some of the same tactics without the requirement to do so.
