ETS Environmental Tobacco Smoke control question

I have a question from the LEED GA practice test. The question states: "Which credit would be applicable to a copy room with a dedicated exhaust, self closing door, and deck to deck partitions?"

And the answer was:
EQ Prerequisite 2, Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control

Feedback:
This room might be a smoking room because it fulfills the requirements (dedicated exhaust and deck to deck partitions) of the LEED prerequisite. Reference: LEED v3 BD+C Reference Guide, Individual Credits, Requirements

But the question already SPECIFIED that it's a copy room. So I am a bit confused whether this is an error to the test or a copy room will have dual function as a smoking room? Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Yujin,

The question is a little tricky but it's just asking with regard to the requirements for Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control.

So, the key is knowing that Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) control requires a direct/dedicated exhaust and deck to deck partitions would suggest that this is the answer to choose. In this case, the copy room would be a designated smoking area according to IEQ prerequisite 2, Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control in LEED 2009. As you mentioned, it would technically be a "dual function" copy room (that is also equipped to handle ETS according to LEED).

The fact that the question states that the room is also a copy room is superfluous information. Superfluous information is often used on the LEED GA to trick the test taker into focusing on it.
