Shear the Sheep and Carpet the Floors

When it comes to flooring, every house is unique and of course every occupant has their individual preference. This sustainable choice offers specific assets that won’t be found elsewhere and won’t cause outrageous budget upgrades!

Renewability: Not only is wool carpeting derived from a rapidly renewable source (those adorable sheep), but the production of wool carpeting also requires anywhere from one-third to one-sixth the energy needed to product comparable synthetics. Likewise, it’s a biodegradable product.

Appearance: Despite our ability to explore space and transfer data via , we have yet to develop synthetic fibers that match the aesthetic qualities of wool. Wool allows for a deeper dye saturation, making colors more vivid and uniform. However, the delustered fibers also soften luminosity, simultaneously creating a gentler reflection of light.

Durability: Wool is naturally flame retardant and has the ability to withstand far more wear and tear than its manmade alternatives. What’s more, spills and other stains are typically easy to remove due to the fibers’ water repellant layer. These aspects alone make it the flooring of choice for high traffic commercial spaces.

Comfort: Although a rather subjective aspect, many consider wool carpeting to offer superior softness to synthetic counterparts. Because of the natural crimped texture of the wool fibers, this softness is also said to last years longer.

Health: Not only are wool allergens a nonissue, but 100% wool carpeting actually has the capability to purify the air. It actively combats dust mites and other bacteria issues that have been known to generate significant, negative health implications in less environmentally friendly carpeting.

Insulation: Wool has incredible insulating properties, keeping it’s environment cool during the summer and warm during the winter. In fact, wool has one of the highest insulation to weight ratios of any fiber.

While wool carpeting will cost more than a synthetic alternative, the above properties offer superior savings almost immediately.
