Green Building Construction Jobs Expected to Double

A new study commissioned by the U.S. Green Building Council finds sustainable building projects are on the rise in Michigan. About 132,000 green construction jobs were reported between 2011 and 2014. That number is expected to nearly double in the next three years. Kevin McNeely is the Chair of the U.S Green Building Council’s Detroit Regional Chapter. Apple, Google, Tesla and the Race for Self-Driving Electric Cars

It's official. After months of secretive pilot projects, Apple on Monday became the latest tech company to declare its ambitions in the notoriously low-tech transportation sector. Following recent revelations that the consumer electronics giant conferred this summer with California self-driving car regulators, the Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is targeting 2019 for the release of an all-electric car. There’s been a boom in energy-efficient skyscraper construction

There was a time not so long ago when getting a LEED certification on a new building was a big deal, a relatively rare badge of architectural pride. LEED — which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — is a suite of architectural metrics for things like energy and water conservation. These days, it’s the most common standard for designating a building as being environmentally friendly.
