Lorna Bravo is the founder and president of Design-Build Green Integration Consulting Company focusing on performance Green Building Consulting. Lorna has more than 17 years of architectural experience in both public and private sectors. She has been responsible for initial project programming, planning, conceptual design development, construction documents, construction administration, project management and sustainable design.
Lorna graduated from Cooper Union University in New York City with a BS in Architecture and has a Masters in Construction Management from Florida International University . She is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED Accredited Professional. This accreditation verifies her knowledge of green building design, practices, and strategies, and a thorough understanding of the LEED Green Building Rating System, resources, and processes set by the USGBC. Lorna teaches environmental design classes at The Green Urban Living Center located in Miami Dade North Campus Community College.
In 2010, Lorna was certified as a Florida Water Star Certifier. Florida Water StarSM is a voluntary certification program for builders and developers, which is designed to increase water efficiency in landscapes, irrigation systems and indoors.A program that certifies excellence in water conservation, saves money and protects the environment. Lorna Bravo certified the first Florida Water Star Home in the Miami Dade County Area in 2011 and the first Commercial property in 2012.
Both projects achieved the Gold certification, which is the highest certification it can receive under the Florida Water Star program. In 2011, Lorna was certified as a Florida Master Gardener. The Florida Master Gardener Program is a volunteer-driven program that benefits UF/IFAS Extension and the citizens of Florida. The program relies on dedicated volunteers who have an interest in gardening and in giving back to their communities.Lorna volunteers her time and assists the county agents in delivering information to residents on how to design, plant and care for their plants and landscapes in a Florida-Friendly way.
Lorna believes the green building movement offers us an unprecedented opportunity to respond to the most important challenges of our time, and she is extremely excited to be part of this challenge.
