About

Onell González-Martínez received a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. Took several graduated courses of a Master Degree in Environmental Planning curriculum from the Graduated School of Planning of the UPR, and is currently taking courses for a Master of Science Degree in Green Building of the San Francisco Institute of Architecture in California, US; Mr. González possess the US Green Building Council’s LEED Accredited Professional Operations & Maintenance credential (LEED AP O+M); he is an EPA / PR Environmental Quality Board accredited Lead-based Paint Inspector; EPA / PR Environmental Quality Board accredited Asbestos Inspector; Certified Mold Assessor accredited by the National Association of Environmentally Responsible Mold Contractors; and an Indoor Air & Surface Quality accredited professional (IASQ) certified by the Healthier Environment Living Program®.

Mr. González collaborated as a Green Building Certification Institute’s Education Provider and Course Submitter on behalf of the USGBC-Caribbean Chapter; served as an active member and Chair of the Education Committee; and is currently the LEED v4 Point of Contact for the Chapter. He also participated as collaborator of the LEED 2012 Regionalization Task Force. In addition, he is a member of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ) and member of the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA).

As a Green Building educational speaker, Mr. González has created and offered basic green building lectures, and LEED Green Associate's Credential Study Courses at the College of Architects and Landscape Architects of Puerto Rico (CAAPPR), the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico (CIAPR), the Realtors' Institute of Puerto Rico, and in higher education institutions such as the Mayaguez Campus and Rio Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, and others. He has also facilitated instructor-led workshops of the USGBC’s Education Curriculum and was recently admitted as a USGBC's LEED Faculty 2013 member.

Mr. González has also received certifications in Agroforestry and Permaculture Design from the Permaculture Institute of Puerto Rico, organization from which he is an active participant and collaborator; as such, he has been invited by the Permaculture Institute to participate as panelist in forums on sustainable development and permaculture design at the University of Puerto Rico.

Mr. González works for the consulting firm Zimmetry Environmental Management Corporation as an environmental building advisor conducting and overseeing Industrial and Environmental Hygiene investigations among others.

At Zimmetry, Mr. González work with clients looking for consistent environmental services who struggle with the worry that they may receive non-compliant performance resulting in delays to their projects, regulatory or public relations difficulties and would like to have a specialist with proven experience and knowledgeable personnel that perform in a timely matter. Mr. González is responsible for oversee and conduct all Industrial Hygiene projects. Perform all related tasks associated with several environmental consulting services such as: indoor air quality consulting and sampling for Green Building projects using USGBC's LEED Rating System; indoor air quality & environmental hygiene investigation and monitoring; mold assessment; microbial control surface treatment and microbial control inspection; dust characterization and allergens assessment; lead based paint inspection and asbestos containing building materials inspection. Other tasks include: assist in purchasing of air monitoring equipment; and schedule and perform regular maintenance and in-house calibration of Indoor Air Quality monitoring and sampling equipment. As a LEED Professional, Mr. González was responsible of designing and conducting USGBC LEED Green Associate in-house training for company employees.
