Gavin has a wealth of both theoretical and practical knowledge in sustainable construction with over 38 years of experience in the energy, facility operations, environmental, and construction fields. In his current role, he provides consulting services in the areas of sustainable design, construction and facility operations and LEED certification. He serves on the steering committee of the Lansing branch of the U.S. Green Building Council West Michigan chapter and on the Energy & Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group for the national USGBC.

At The Christman Company he provided leadership for Christman’s Project Planning Group in the areas of life cycle costing and construction of sustainable, high-performance buildings, and was an integral part of planning and operation of Christman’s corporate headquarters, the world’s first quadruple platinum LEED certified building.

Prior to joining The Christman Company, he founded Facility Consultation & Management Services, Inc. to provide a range of services specifically designed to increase efficiencies, thereby reducing operations and construction costs. He specialized in Energy Efficiency, Concurrent Design and Project Management and Facility Operations.

Gavin worked for local school districts in various Facilities Management roles. Among his many responsibilities were environmental, energy, preventative maintenance, and operations programs. In addition, Gavin was involved in facilitating all aspects for several bond programs, including A/E and CM selection, planning, staff input and Owner’s Representative functions. He had direct construction management responsibility for many projects over several years.
