LEED GA Exam: Which Rating System to Study?

I am applying for the LEED Green Associate accreditation exam, I would like to ask which rating system will the exam include i.e. shall I revise LEED2009 or LEED V2?

I would like to ask which study guide is the best to use? do I have to study from the study guides published on the USGBC website?

Thank you very much and waiting for your reply.

Hi Radwa,

Thank you for your question. The LEED Green Associate exam covers the LEED 2009 rating systems (not V2). The Green Associate exam is really an overview of the 2009 rating systems along with questions about sustainable building concepts and the USGBC process for certification.

I have heard from many people that the USGBC study guides are, strangely enough, not helpful for studying for the Green Associate exam. You are not required to purchase them to study for the exam, though you should download the free LEED Green Associate Candidate Handbook.

Instead, I would recommend Poplar's PDF study guide. This is a concise review of all the information you need to know on the exam. If you understand and memorize the information in this guide and take practice tests until you score 95-100%, you should be able to pass the exam. (Poplar also offers 300 free practice questions for members.)

Best of luck studying!

Thanks Claire, I used Poplar's study material just 2 weeks ago and scored a 98%. I used your methods suggested in your article on passing the exam and it was very helpful. Thanks again!
